Independent IT & digital advice

Straight answers about the technology your business actually needs.

We are an independent advisory practice for individuals and small businesses. We work out what you need, compare the realistic options and write the reasoning down — so you can decide with the facts in front of you.

  • Vendor-neutral — we do not sell software
  • Recommendations in plain English
  • Fixed fee agreed before work starts

What we help with

Six ways we are usually asked to help

Each piece of work ends with a written recommendation you own and can act on with anyone — including a supplier of your own choosing.

Working at a desktop computer comparing options

Software Selection

Tell us what the job is and we work out which software actually fits it — not which vendor has the loudest sales team.

  • Requirements written down before any demo
  • Shortlist of two or three real candidates
  • Cost structure over three years, not just month one
  • A recommended option with the reasoning attached

Cloud Tools Advice

Cloud storage, accounts, file sharing and backup for a small team: what to use, what to stop paying for, and how to move without losing anything.

  • Which tool suits which working pattern
  • Migration order and what to move first
  • What to keep on local machines and why
  • A plain checklist you can follow yourself

Device & System Setup

New laptops, phones and accounts set up properly once, so nobody has to guess a password or recreate a folder structure later.

  • Sensible device choice for the work
  • Accounts, permissions and shared access
  • Backup configured before you rely on it
  • Handover notes for whoever joins next

Digital Workflow Improvement

Most small businesses lose hours to steps that exist only because that is how they were first set up. We map them and take the unnecessary ones out.

  • Current process mapped end to end
  • Bottlenecks and duplicate entry identified
  • Simplified version agreed with your team
  • Changes introduced one at a time

Technology Troubleshooting

When something breaks, we find out why before changing anything — and we tell you what caused it so it does not come back next month.

  • Fault traced to a specific cause
  • Explanation in plain English, no jargon
  • Fix applied with the least disruption
  • Notes on how to avoid a repeat

Simpler IT Environments

If the setup has grown one addition at a time, it is usually carrying redundancy nobody needs. We thin it out gradually, without a disruptive rebuild.

  • Inventory of what is actually in use
  • Overlapping licences and tools identified
  • A written rule for how new tools get added
  • Changes staged so nothing stops working

All services in detail

Where we usually work

Small offices, home desks and one-person operations

The setups we meet most often are practical rather than exotic: a few laptops, a shared drive, a handful of subscriptions and a spreadsheet holding it all together. None of it needs an enterprise department to put right.

Start from the problemEvery engagement begins with what is not working, not with a product.
Our approach

Simpler before newer

Most of the cost in a small IT setup is not the software. It is the time spent working around tools that were chosen for the wrong reasons, and the subscriptions that quietly renewed after the person who wanted them had moved on.

So we begin by removing. Duplicated tools, unused licences, processes with three steps where one will do. Only then do we look at what genuinely needs replacing or adding.

  • Vendor-neutral from first conversation to final report
  • Simpler before newer, and existing kit before new kit
  • Recommendations sized to a small team, not an enterprise
  • Everything written down and handed to you

What we look at

The systems and subscriptions behind the day job

Cloud accounts, devices, shared storage, email, backup and the billing that ties them together. If it costs money or takes time every month, it is worth reviewing.

How we work

Four steps from first call to written recommendation

  1. 01Usually 30 minutes

    An initial conversation

We ask what you do, what is slowing you down and what you have already tried. No charge, no obligation, and no product presentation.

  2. 02Agreed in writing

    A fixed scope and fee

You receive the scope in writing — what we will look at, what we will deliver and what it costs. Nothing starts until you confirm it.

  3. 03Two to three weeks

    Research and comparison

We review what is in place, compare the realistic options and test our conclusions against your actual working pattern.

  4. 04One document

    A written recommendation

A clear recommendation with the reasoning, the alternatives and the costs. Yours to keep and to act on with any supplier you choose.

Before you get in touch

The first questions people ask

If yours is not here, the full list covers how we charge, what we will and will not do, and how we handle your information.

All questions

Are you a software reseller?

No. We are not a software vendor, reseller or distributor, and we hold no reseller or referral agreements. Our only income is the fee you pay us for the work.

Will you try to sell me new hardware?

No, and in most cases we recommend keeping what already works. Where equipment genuinely needs replacing we say so and give you the reasoning — but we do not supply it.

How do you charge?

Entry-level work is a fixed fee agreed in writing before anything starts, from £95. Larger pieces of work are quoted separately once we understand the scope.

Can you work with the systems we already have?

Yes. Most of our work is with existing setups rather than wholesale replacement. We usually start by looking at what is in place and what is actually being used.

Next step

Not sure where to start?

A short initial conversation is usually enough to tell whether we can help — and we will say so plainly if we cannot.
